Homemade DVD Player
January 3rd, 2008Well not quite… more like store bought, broke, taken apart and nailed to wall DVD player.
One of my roommates had this temperamental Toshiba DVD player for years and finally gave up and got a new one. Frustrated last night with nothing else to do he took it apart. This immediatly took me back to my childhood of taking apart every old printer and original Macintosh I could get my hands on. Naturally I lent my expertise. So today with a mess of circuit boards and screws littering the living room, in my own lack of inspiration I decided to put er back together.
In the end after only 5 minutes of assembly using as few screws as I could I grab the closest DVD and take it for a test run.WHAM! it works, no problem. Only catch now is that it is out of the metal case and I have no motivation to reassemble it. BUT lacking my own DVD player it is the latest piece of functional artwork in my bedroom. Not bad!
